About Crew

CAPTAIN - Gary
Arriving in Port Douglas in 1987, Gary has an extensive knowledge of the islands, reefs and coral cays of the Great Barrier Reef. As Captain and Padi Master Instructor he has experienced the wonders of the reef both above and below the sea . Drawing on this wealth of information he can choose the ideal destination to suit your charter needs. From the Cape York region fishing for barramundi, scuba diving the pristine Outer Barrier Reef ,Honeymoon in the Whitsunday Islands, or a wedding on an island, Gary will provide the perfect location. And as for those " hot spots" for fishing , you'll just have to come out on Phantom to try them for yourself.

EXECUTIVE CHEF - Greg
I completed apprenticeship in the early 80's in one of Australia's premier restaurants in Melbourne. Which opened doors for me to work in some of the worlds best establishments including the three star Michelin " Le Gauroche ". In my worldly travels I have had the privilege to meet and entertain high profile individuals including royalty, presidents, actors and entertainers. Since spending a fair amount of time in South East Asia and finding an affiliation with it's cuisine, I have brought that knowledge to Far North queensland which has a similar climate and produce. My connection with " Phantom " allows me to exploit what the sea has to offer and put it on the dinner table.

ENGINEER - Lory
Lory and his wife first visited Port Douglas in 1986. They decided to drive from Adelaide to Port Douglas, it took 3 days driving 12 hours a day. When they arrived in Port Douglas there wasn't much here apart from 2 pubs in the main street, a glorious beach, the Great Barrier Reef and stunning scenery surrounding the area. Lory and his wife knew it was a special place and returned to Port Douglas regularly for their holidays. In 2001 they decided to relocate to Port Douglas permanently and leave city life behind them and they haven't looked back since. When Lory arrived in Port he wanted a career change and worked as a dive instructor and marine engineer. What a perfect way to spend the working day he thought on the Great Barrier Reef. Lory's experience in the electrical industry spans 28 years having managed his own business in manufacturing and electrical servicing. Lory joined Phantom in January 2005 and enjoys the experience of making the guests’ day a memorable one.

Land Based

SALES - Julie
Julie has been with Phantom since it cruised into Port Douglas in 1994. As a Padi Dive Instructor and registered Nurse Julie can answer all your diving and health related questions.
